ARTIST STATEMENT

In this body of work I reflect back on my memories of being a child and the emotions I felt when I was young. I distinctly remember being short and always looking up into the adult world . When I look back at it now as an adult, I realise how innocent and open I was to what was around me.

As a portrait sculptor I look for emotions feelings and vulnerability in the faces and body language of children. Because of their innocence nothing is hidden. With a child all emotions are felt to the fullest, and then its over.
I try to look deeply in to find a certain moment that will say it all , to capture the essence of an emotion and then incorporate this into my work.
