SUE SMITH

The images in this exhibition are flights and delights of fancy.
Small and delicate in form, I spend days creating each work as colourful collages of re-imagined natural, built and human forms.
Working in pen, ink, watercolour and gouache, I seek to capture the beauty, vividness and romance of the exotic with a gentle twist of whimsy.
Drawn from fragments of memory and imaginings, these painted worlds are escapes into the wonder, intrigue and adventure of travel.

JUDY LANE

“Although I have been a painter for most of my life I have become fascinated by clay for the past six years. I started making ceramic hand bags this year as a salute to my father who created such an industry which appeared to rule our lives and dictated what my mother and I carried on our arms. My bags are eclectic in both style and surface design and are finished in underglazes, glazes and collage with the addition of handles made from whatever felt appropriate for each bag. I have enjoyed this journey and the reference to my past and my dear father.”
