LYNNE HAYLOCK
“I look at the form, visualise the gesture, take a breath and sweep the surface with blue slip. I avoid fiddling with the result as it invariably affects the spontaneity and sharpness of the marks. The resulting brush marks respond to the physicality of the vessel’s form, of picking up hidden throwing marks.”
MARY MARGERSON
The work aims to provide a reflection of the natural world, referencing the tranquility of the beaches on the east coast, the geographical evolution, land sculptured by erosion creating cave like mysterious quiet places, glistening rock pools, sand and shells, primarily the coastline where Mary’s inspiration originated. Places visited since childhood, where Mary observed the season’s cycles, infinite colour contrasts and sensed the gentle pace of change.
