NOW AND THEN

27 APRIL - 17 MAY 2014

10am - 5pm Tuesday to Saturday, 10am - 3pm Sunday 4 May & Sunday 11 May

“Now and Then”  by Award winning ceramic artist Kim-Anh Nguyen

Underlying the art of Kim-Anh Ngyuen is a profound respect for the historical and cultural significance of indigenous people in particular the Montagnards, or mountain people of Vietnam and the Aborigines of Australia.

The majority of her work depicts aspects of the landscape which is crucial to all indigenous peoples and expresses both her own life story and this landscape. As Kim-Anh says, “I am absorbed by the concept of storytelling and journey through the objects I create.”

These objects are inspired by indigenous cultures, bright vibrant colours and personal experiences. Her work is very textural and has been described by renowned sculptor, the late Marea Gazzard as “…exquisite work that has great delicacy and lightness”.

Now and Then represents work from the earlier ‘Spinifex’ and ‘Road Less Travelled’ exhibitions to current wall pieces such as Sunset at Uluru.
